Earlier today rumours started doing the rounds that Beşiktaş boss Şenol Güneş had had a meeting with TFF presidnet Yildirim Demirören to discuss the possibility of him becoming the new Turkey national team coach.

NTV Spor reported that the TFF had offered Şenol Güneş a deal for the remaining 4 matches of the World Cup qualifying campaign with a possiblity to sign a 4 year deal at the end of the season.

Beşiktaş have since issued a statement in which they adressed these rumours, Beşiktaş acknowledged that a meeting between Güneş and Demirören indeed took place and that he was offered to Turkey job.

However, Beşiktaş and Şenol Güneş have respectfully declined the Federations offer, stating that it would be harmful for the club for Güneş to take the position at this time.

The TFF have since issued a statement in which they acknowledged Beşiktaş and Şenol Güneş’ decision and that they will respect it.
