Cenk Tosun on the verge of record breaking Everton move!

Beşiktaş striker Cenk Tosun is on the verge of a record breaking move to the Premier League, with Everton being rumoured to having already agreed on personal terms with the 26-year old Turkish International.

Cenk Tosun’s strong performances over the past 18 months, since the departure of Mario Gómez, have not gone unnoticed. ‘Tosun Paşa‘ as the Beşiktaş fans have lovingly nicknamed their star striker have attracted the interest of several Premier League clubs, with Crystal Palace coming close to a deal for a rumoured fee of 12,5 million euros earlier this season, but the move broke down as the clubs were unable to agree on an installment plan.

Cenk hasn’t looked back since his proposed move to Palace broke down however, putting in a starmaking performance in the UEFA Champions League group stages, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist as Beşiktaş comfortably topped their group with 14 points and without giving up a single defeat. Cenk’s goal against FC Porto in the away game on matchday 1 was even voted as the ‘goal of the group stages’, being awarded that honour for the second year running after his stunning scizzor-kick against Benfica last season.

Sam Allardyce, the man who had advised Crystal Palace to bring in Tosun during the Summer, is now in charge at Everton FC and has pushed for the Toffees to make a move for the Beşiktaş star.

Big Sam was asked earlier today to adress the rumours concerning Tosun and confirmed that his club are looking for a striker,  “We need a frontman if we can find one. We’re actively looking for more goals in the transfer window.”. Without confirming they are officially interested in Cenk, his answer to specific question regarding Cenk would make it seem that Everton are certainly in the market for the Turkish striker.

In the English media the sum of £ 25 million has been widely reported (circa 28 million euros), however the English media are known to exaggerate such transfer fees. But if Everton’s offer is truely north of the 20 million euro mark, it would seem extremely like that Beşiktaş president Fikret Orman could be tempted in selling Cenk, even midway through the season.

Cenk Tosun got on the scoresheet last night as Beşiktaş beat Osmanlispor 4-1 in the Turkish cup in their final match of 2017, after the match Cenk greeted the supporters and let them in to what could ahve been his final Üçlu chant, has Cenk scored his last goal for Beşiktaş? Or will he lead the charge against Bayern München in February in the final 16 of the Champions League? It is expected that, should he move, it will become clear very early on in the transfer window. Beşiktaş are already looking at alternatives for Cenk with the names of former striker Demba Ba, Mario Balotelli and Jackson Martinez being mentioned.
