After a signing ceremony held at the Vodafone Park and attended by the Club’s Executive Board, former Başakşehir Manager Abdullah Avcı joined the Black Eagles on a 3-year deal. “We are here to make a positive difference,” said the new boss of the Black Eagles.
Avcı succeeds newly appointed Turkey coach Senol Günes, who won two Turkish league titles in four years with the Black Eagles. He also led them to a Europa League quarter final and an unbeaten run in the Champions League group stages.
Abdullah Avcı in turn led Başakşehir to two runner-up finishes in the 2016-2017 and 2018-2019 season respectively, while finishing fourth in 2015-2016 and third in 2017-2018. He also briefly coached the Turkish national team between 2011 and 2013.
He led Turkey u17 to the European championship in 2005, beating The Netherlands in the finals 2-0.
