Matchday Two

The 2nd match for Beşiktaş in the Europa League will be played today. The Black Eagles’ opponents will be the English side, Tottenham Hotspur, and they’ll be playing away in London at White Hart Lane. This is an important match for both teams as both drew their previous match (Beşiktaş against Asteras at home 1-1 and Tottenham against Partizan away 0-0) and started the group stage with a point each.

Beşiktaş manager, Slaven Bilic, made comments regarding this match. Here’s what he had to say;

”It’s a good feeling to be here. It’s very nice to be a piece of this cup tournament. At the end of the first matches, everything is even. Tomorrow’s match holds a lot of importance. We want to advance in this cup. Our expectations are high. We’re going to play against a big team. The matches that we played with Arsenal increased our confidence. We want to return with a good result.”

”Both teams are good. No result will be surprising. They’re playing at home. They’re a side with high expectations. We have a chance to win.”

”We’re conceding easy goals from set pieces. We conceded 2 goals in 4 games. This is a good average for a team who’s playing for the championship. The pitch is very nice here. It’s a convenient environment to pass. The game will be open as well. There’s not going to be a team that closes down in front of us. We have hard times against teams like those. We can’t be productive.”

Beşiktaş’ star striker, Demba Ba, also made comments;

”I played against Tottenham with Chelsea and West Ham. I’m positive that our fans will be louder than their fans.”

”I’m working very hard everyday to return to my old form. I’m doing by best to be 100%.”

”When we got matched up with Arsenal, everybody thought that Arsenal would’ve advanced easily. We showed that this wasn’t the case with our game. If we play against Tottenham like we did against Arsenal, I believe that we’ll leave here with a good result.”

Tottenham Hotspur coach, Mauricio Pochettino, also talked about Beşiktaş. If you’re interested, here’s the video: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs-tv/interviews/mauricio-previews-besiktas/

Beşiktaş doesn’t have any injuries while Tottenham has Etienne Capoue and Kyle Walker out due to injury. No players suspended as well for both teams.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted XI: Vorm, Naughton, Fazio, Chiriches, Davies; Lennon, Stambouli, Paulinho, Townsend; Kane, Soldado.

Beşiktaş predicted XI: Tolga, Serdar, Pedro, Ersan, Ismail (Motta), Atiba, Veli (Oğuzhan), Olcay, Gökhan, Sosa, Ba.
