Players on expiring contracts.

Updated: October 17, 2014

Beşiktaş have recently brought in good players, but they need to be on the look out for players who have been in the team for a while and are on expiring contracts:

Veli Kavlak: Veli joined Beşiktaş at the begining of the 2011/12 season and signed a 4 year contract until the end of the 2014/15 season. Veli is only getting a guaranteed wage of €600,000 for this season. To be honest, only €600,000 for a player like Veli is pretty low when you take the wages that other teams are paying their players into consideration. Veli had his best season last season as he scored 3 goals and assisted 4 in 31 games and contributed to the team a lot on the field. However, his performance has dropped this season, but he’s still a player that should be kept for sure. Veli recently stated that he wants to be a legend at Beşiktaş and that he also wants to continue his career at Beşiktaş. Beşiktaş also wants to keep Veli as well. Even though there’s rumors that clubs like Schalke, Stuttgart, etc. is interested in him, I think an agreement on a contract extension will be reached one way or another. Hopefully, it’ll happen soon.

Ersan Adem Gülüm: Ersan joined Beşiktaş on loan in the 2010/11 season, impressed the fans and the coaching staff, and was signed permanently at the beginning of the 2011/12 season on a 4 year contract. Ersan is currently on a guaranteed wage of €750,000 + €12,000 per match (maximum 40 matches). Ersan has went through some major injuries, but he never gave up and kept on working hard. As of today, he’s a very important player for Beşiktaş. Ersan hasn’t spoken about his contract yet, but it’s more than likely that he’ll extend his contract as he seems very happy at Beşiktaş.

Uğur Boral: Uğur joined Beşiktaş at the beginning of the 2012/13 season for free on a 3 year contract. He has a guaranteed wage of €700,000 + €10,000 per match for this season. Uğur isn’t an important player for Beşiktaş. He hasn’t played in any matches so far this season and he hasn’t been included in the match squad for a while now. Beşiktaş will most likely let Uğur leave at the end of the season and free up some wages.

Atiba Hutchinson: Atiba transferred to Beşiktaş for free at the beginning of the 2013/2014 season and signed a 2 year contract. Atiba has been a very important player for Beşiktaş since he came. He can play in many positions and he’s a hard-worker, who only focuses on his job. Atiba is on a guaranteed wage of €1,000,000 + €10,000 per match this season. Atiba recently stated in a interview that he has a contract extension in mind and that the club really wants to extend his contract as well, so he’s guessing that his contract will be extended due to this.

Cenk Gönen: Cenk joined Beşiktaş at the beginning of the 2010/11 season from Denizlispor on a 5 year contract. Cenk is currrently Beşiktaş’ backup keeper. He’s receiving a guaranteed wage of €530,000 + €3,500 per match this season. That’s really good for Beşiktaş compared to the wage a backup keeper at Galatasaray is receiving (Sinan Bolat has a guaranteed wage of €1,300,000 + €20,000 per match this season). Cenk is one of the best backup goalkeepers in the league. He is still only 26 and will get his chance to become 1st choice keeper eventually. Beşiktaş has always supported Cenk and even increased his wages in the 2012/13 season when he wasn’t playing regularly. He could easily be the 1st choice keeper of many teams in the league, but in my opinion, I think Cenk will stay at Beşiktaş.

Mustafa Pektemek: Pektemek transferred to Beşiktaş from Gençlerbirliği at the beginning of the 2011/12 season and signed a 4 year contract. Mustafa is on a guaranteed wage of €970,000 + €16,000 per match this season. There’s rumors that Fenerbahçe is interested in Mustafa and you can see why they’re interested as they don’t have a Turkish striker. Recently, Pektemek said that his only thought at the moment was Beşiktaş. Not only is Mustafa a good player, but he’s an awesome professional as well. His contract needs to be extended as soon as possible. Fenerbahçe and other clubs will definitely try for Mustafa, but hopefully Mustafa will extend his contract with Beşiktaş, the club that’s always been behind him. In my opinion, I think that he will.

Tomas Sivok: Sivok joined Beşiktaş from Udinese back at the beginning of the 2008/09 season on a 4 year contract. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season, Sivok’s future was unknown as there were many clubs interested in him, but he decided to stay at Beşiktaş and he extended his contract for 3 more years. There were rumors that he was going to leave at the beginning of this season, but he stayed again. He has a guaranteed wage of €1,400,000 + €100,000 (if he plays in at least 30 matches) this season. Even though he’s 31 years old, he’s still a really good player and he’s consistent. Tomas is also a very good professional. There’s been some news out about Biliç wanting Sivok to stay, but nobody has spoken about a new contract yet.

Filip Holosko: Holosko joined Beşiktaş in the January transfer window of the 2007/08 season. He last extended his contract in the 2012/13 season, but it’s not looking like Beşiktaş will extend his contract again. He’s been sent to Rizespor on loan this season and Beşiktaş is paying half of his wages (€550,000). Beşiktaş sending Holosko to another team when there was still open foreigner spots left on the roster this season shows that his time at Beşiktaş is coming to an end. Beşiktaş will probably let Holosko go.
