Beşiktaş midfielder Veli Kavlak has picked up a back injury according to an official statement made by the club earlier today.

Veli underwent and MRI scan which showed that the 26-year old defensive midfielder has a first degree tear in his lower back. He will have to miss the game against Tottenham Hotspur tonight and possibly the game against Gaziantepspor on Sunday.

With Atiba Hutchinson picking up a red card on the previous matchday against Asteras Tripolis that means the Black Eagles are left without either one of their defensive midfielders.

Demba Ba and Mustafa Pektemek both picked up injuries over the weekend against Trabzonspor and will also be missing tonight’s game. (Mustafa will even be out for several months due to a broken cheekbone and broken nose)

It will be interesting to see how Slaven Bilic shapes up his team tonight.

Beşiktaş have already qualified for the round of 32 but will need to win tonight’s game to end on top of the group for a more favourable draw in the next round (avoiding high ranked Champions League drop-offs).
