Matchday 2

On matchday 2 of the Ziraat Türkiye Küpasi group stages, the leaders in Group F Beşiktaş and Çaykur Rizespor go head to head.

Rizespor beat Adana Demirspor on matchday 1 at home 2-1 while the Black Eagles won away from home against Sariyer 0-4.

Beşiktaş will miss up to 9 players due to injury in this game and will therefore likely start with several academy players. Atinç Nukan who has been filling in at center back in recent games will most likely be starting again and probably would have even without injury issues as coach Slaven Bilic said after the Sariyer game that Atinç would get plenty more chances in the cup. Furkan Yaman is another academy product likely to start, the 19-year old striker already got to play in the second half against Sariyer assisting the 4th goal (scored by Cenk Tosun) and even made his European debut in second half stoppage time against Tottenham Hotspur last Thursday.

Now with Demba Ba, Mustafa Pektemek and Cenk Tosun out with injuries Furkan Yaman is the best option upfront for coach Slaven Bilic unless he wants to play someone out of position.

Cenk Tosun and Cenk Gönen are both expected to return to full fitness over the weekend as the Black Eagles take on Akhisar Belediyespor but both men have been left out of today’s matchday squad.

Rizespor recently sacked their former coach and Beşiktaş legend Mehmet Özdilek and replaced him with Hikmet Karaman. Rizespor is currently in the lower regions of the Süper Lig standings and may not want to risk some of their star players among whom is Filip Holosko who is currently on loan from Beşiktaş.

There was some discussion prior to this game as to where the match would be played, Beşiktaş suggested to play this game in Bolu but Rizespor declined that offer. Therefore it will be played in the Atatürk Olimpiyat stadium.

Beşiktaş predicted XI:

Tolga Zengin; Serdar Kurtuluş, Atinç Nukan, Pedro Franco, Ümit Karaal; Atiba Hutchinson, Gökhan Artun, Oğuzhan Özyakup, Kerim Frei, Olcay Sahan; Furkan Yaman
