Medicana Sivasspor: 0 Beşiktaş: 1

Updated: March 8, 2015

As they travelled to Sivas on matchday 23 of the Spor Toto Süper Lig the Black Eagles could not afford a third slip up in a row and needed to get all three points in order to remain atleast in second position at the end of this matchday with both rivals Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray playing together later on the day.

And so they did; the Eagles won their difficult away game against Sivasspor, who are coached by  Beşiktaş legend Sergen Yalçin, by 0-1 thanks to Atiba Hutchinson’s first goal of the season.

It was an even game int he first half with parts of the game being controlled by the home side while other parts of the game were controlled by the visitors, only one minute clear of halftime Necip Uysal sent a lobbed pass through the center of Sivasspor’s defence which found Atiba Hutchinson who quickly pounced on the ball beatin goalkeeper Korcan. This was only the second goal in the last nine scored in the league which Demba Ba did not have a foot in. (5 goals and 2 assists from the last 9 goals scored by the team in the league)

Earlier in the first half, around minute 23, Tolgay Arslan had to replace José Sosa after the Argentinian playmaker suffered an injury.

Sivasspor, the hosts, took the game to the Black Eagles in the second half as the visitors leaned back. However, they could not produce a goal despite creating a few good chances. The second half was far from ‘clean’ and many fans will have experienced severe levels of stress watching it but in the end the lads got the job done and took three crucial points in the tight battle for the league title.
