STSL: Fenerbahçe 1-0 Beşiktaş

Updated: March 23, 2015

In the 25th week of the Spor Toto Süper Lig Beşiktaş lost the derby against Fenerbahçe SK at the Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium with a late goal in overtime.

In a game which mainly was played in the midfield both teams lacked creating chances.
Slaven Bilic returned to Beşiktaş’ standard 4-5-1 formation. Jose Sosa played surprisingly on the left wing for Olcay Şahan, while Tolgay Arslan started on the playmaker position behind Demba Ba.

In the first half there was less football, but much action beside the pitch.
In the 31st minute Fenerbahçe forward Emmanuele Emenike, who was protested by the fans the entire match, pulled of his shirt and left the field because he thought he would be replaced by Moussa Saw, which was not the case.
That however caused a discussion outside the pitch, first between a crowd of Fenerbahçe players and their manager and reached it’s maximum in a quarrel between Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş players, the managers and other officials. After this interruption for round 10 minutes, the game started again, but nothing happened that is worth to be mentioned.
For the sake of completness: the only real chance in the first half was in the 19th minute by Fenerbahçe’s forward Emmenike who could not make the ball pass Tolga Zengin.
Tolga Zengin had to be substituted in the last minute of the first half due to a injury and was replaced by Günay Güvenç.

The 2nd half was not much better. Beşiktaş created late a few chances, but Ba (80′), Oğuzhan Özyakup (80′) and Olcay Şahan (85′) missed to score. Everything pointed to a 0-0, when Saw hit a volley to score the 1-0 in overtime (90’+1′).
