A devastatingly dissapointing result for the Black Eagles in Ankara as mid table Gaziantepspor keep them at a one all draw at the Osmanli and puts a serious dent in their title aspirations.

1. Half

The Black Eagles got off on a flyer as José Sosa was brought down on the edge of the box in the 5th minute and curled in the following free-kick to put the hosts ahead: 1-0.

Major chances did not come straight away, although midway through the first half Erdem Sen pushed Demba Ba in his back to prevent him from shooting, a clear cut goal position which should have been a penalty and possibly even a red card as Erdem was pretty much the last man and kept Ba from a 100% chance. But referee Tolga Özkalfa waved play-on.

Serdar Kurtulus managed to keep Muhammet Demir from the equalizer a few minutes later as he touched the striker’s shot with his a sliding tackle to deflect it out in to corner.

In the 42nd minute Serdar Kurtulus was clearly fouled in the oppositions half as Camara struck him in his face with his hand during a battle over the ball, the referee however waved play on and the resulting attack ended up with John Chibuike who put the qualizer past goalkeeper Günay: 1-1.

2. Half

The Black Eagles had plenty of time in the second half to get their winner, but despite a plethora of chances: most noteworthy for Demba Ba, Gökhan Töre and Olcay Sahan they did not manage to beat goalkeeper Eray who had an exceptional match.

Twice Eray stopped a close range effort from Demba Ba on the line and he also got a touch to a long range effort from Gökhan Töre which pushed the ball against the inside of the bar but it did not go over the line.

In the end, Slaven Bilic put everything on the victory as he took out both Olcay Sahan and Tolgay Arslan in favor of Cenk Tosun and Mustafa Pektemek in the last 15 minutes.

But while the Black Eagles managed to create plenty of chances between minute 60 and 75, they really did not manage to force another good opporutnity in those last 20 minutes and it was actually Gaziantepspor who in the dying seconds had the chance to win this match. But their counter ended up hitting the outside of the post and going out ending the game at 1-1.

A weak showing from the officials in the first half and simply a lack of quality finishing in the second half cost the Black Eagles two precious points in this 3 horse title race. With 4 matches to go the Black Eagles now drop down to position 3, two points behind Galatasaray and one point behind Fenerbahçe. Where with a victory today four wins would have been enough to win the league, they will now have to hope that Fenerbahçe drops points in their last four games and still win their own four games to win the league, a very tough objective indeed.

The next match is already on wednesday, away in Manisa against Akhisar Belediyespor.
