STSL: Akhisar Belediyespor: 1 Beşiktaş: 1

Updated: May 14, 2015

The Black Eagles played to a very disappointing result against 14th placed Akhisar Belediyspor at Manisa and brought their chances of winning the title down a lot with 3 matches left to go in the league.

1. Half

The Black Eagles started off very slow. They couldn’t seem to get into a rhythm in the opening minutes and ended up conceding in the 14th minute to go down 1-0. Former Beşiktaş player, Mehmet Akyüz, was the goal scorer for Akhisar after Akhisar passed the ball out from thr corner kick and had Bilal Kısa cross the ball to Mehmet, who snuck behind Atiba and headed the ball into the back of the net.

Fans were waiting for a response to the this goal with Beşiktaş pulling one back, at least before halftime, but the team couldn’t really get it together. Many easy pass errors were made and it seemed as though Akhisar could’ve made it two from a counter attack.

Mehmet Akyüz had the chance to increase Akhisar’s lead to 2 as he was throught on net in the 45th minute, but Tolgay did a great job of getting back and denying Mehmet to take a shot.

Overall, the first half was a major dissapointment for Beşiktaş. Their fist shot came in the 45th minute and weren’t playing well at all.

2. Half

Bilic started the 2nd half by putting in Mustafa Pektemek in for Serdar Kurtuluş and moving Olcay to right back in hopes of a goal.

Beşiktaş increased their pressure and ended up finding rare goal from a set piece thanks to a header from Demba Ba.

After Beşiktaş’ goal, the game opened up even more. Both teams were looking for the 2nd goal. Both keepers ended up making good saves and keeping their team in the game.

With the minutes winding down, Bilic took risks. He brought in Kerim for Tolgay and Cenk Tosun for Olcay. All 3 forwards were on the field with 2 wingers, 2 midfielders and only 3 defenders.

Cenk Tosun was able to put the ball in thr back of the net in stoppage time for Beşiktaş, but the goal was ruled of due to it being offsides.

One last chance came to Beşiktaş in the final seconds with a free kick from close range, but Sosa’s shot was saved by the keeper and the corner after that didn’t bring anything and the game ended 1-1.

Beşiktaş now sit on 66 points with this draw, a point behind Fenerbahçe and 4 points behind Galatasaray. There is still a title chance mathematically, but with 3 matches left to go, it’s going to be a very hard task.

Beşiktaş play Konyaspor at Ankara on Monday.
