Pedro Franco’s name showed up on the Colombian National Football Team’s preliminary 30-men Copa America squad list. The final 23-men Copa America squad will be announced on June 1st. In the preliminary 30-men Copa America squad, Pekerman called up 6 center backs; Cristian Zapata, Carlos Valdes, Eder Balanta, Jeison Murillo, PEDRO FRANCO, and Francisco Meza. Carlos Valdes was in the 2014 FIFA World Cup squad and he played vs Brazil in September 5, 2014. He hasn’t been called up to the national team until now. This is Francisco Meza’s very first call up and he has been playing very well with Independiente Santa Fe (Colombian League). There are 6 center backs fighting for 4 spots. Pedro Franco must work very hard to be in the final 23-men list.

The Costa Rican Football Federation announced that they would be having a friendly match vs Colombia on June 6th in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The time will be announced later this month. The Colombian coach, Jose Pekerman,  spoke about this earlier this year. He clearly stated that he wanted another match as preparation before the Copa America starts.
