CONSTRUCTION OF THE STADIUM WILL NOT BE HALTED…

“The location of our stadium is very inconvenient, besides our stadium 28 others are being constructed across Turkey. Our stadium is being spoken about the most.

We have received a lot of help from president Erdogan, prime minister Davutoglu and local authorities.

There is a slight construction issue with the roof but we will resolve this issue, we will sit down and talk to mister Kadir Topbas in order to resolve this problem.”

TICKET SALES AND CONSTRUCTION UPDATE…

“There are 146 VIP lodges in the stadium, so far we have buyers for 144-145 of them. We also have the VIP and the 1903Tribünü, there are 650 places available. So far we already have 350-400 buyers for those places. In the VIP sectionthere are 1.500 seats available, so far we have around 500-600 buyers for those seats already. With the opening of the stadium the remainder of these seats will surely be sold out.

So far we’ve sold between 11.500-12.000 sason tickets already. We are resuming sales and are aiming to sell 32-33.000 season ticket in total.

The most important aspect of the stadium construction was for the full structural work to be completed, that is now the case. We are now starting on the roof of the stadium. But as long as the roof has not been finished, we can not yet start with the pitch.

Our aim is to finish the stadium on the 20th of September, 60% of the interior of the stadium has already been completed.”

SPECIAL REQUEST MADE…

“We have requested to the Turkish Football Federation and the Associated clubs organization to play our first two games of the 2015-2016 season away from home and to play the following four matches at home in our new stadium.

We are coming from a difficult situation without a home stadium, had we played here already this past season we might have been champions. The atmosphere in our new stadium is going to be amazing, the crowd will be right on top of the action which will cause a tremendous atmosphere.”

EXPENDATURES SO FAR…

“The total expendatures for the stadium’s construction will be around $100.000.000 plus taxes. Our new stadium’s pitch will be roughly 8 to 9 meters lower than in our old Inönü stadium. This has caused some extra high expenses.

So far we have spent roughly 200.000.000 Turkish lira plus taxes. ($75Mio + taxes)”

WE HAD NO EXTERNAL HELP FOR THE STADIUM CONSTRUCTION

“We haven’t received any help from Spor Toto. We built the stadium with our own sources. We generated our income by selling the stadium naming rights and pre-selling the VIP lodges and other seats.”

WE WANT TO ORGANIZE A TOURNAMENT…

“We are planning to organize a tournament to open the new stadium with big clubs like Barcelona, Bayern München and Chelsea. There will also be conserts held and fashion shows. Our stadium will be beautiful and everyone will be proud of it.”

WE HAVE TO GENERATE INCOME…

“Our club had a tremendous amount of debt when I first took over, when we created new sources of revenue we could not just go and spend this on new things. We had debt to resolve, the club owed 25.000.000 Turkish ira just to Ferrari alone. We still had to pay $1.500.000 of Quaresma’s transfer fee (to Inter Milan), we paid this. We also paid for Fernandes and Almeida. Where do you think this money is coming from? We do not rely on a boardmember to finance us. I want to finish the stadium soon.”

BIGGEST CHAMPIONSHIP CANDIDATE…

“We were the biggest candidate for the championship untill three matches before the end of the season. But we dropped points and lost our chance at the championship, this caused frustration among the fans which led to wild allegations in regards to our debt. But in terms of dollars, it barely increased eventhough we’re constructing a brand new stadium from our own pockets.”

I AM NOT A MAN TO WALK AWAY…

“I am not a man to walk away from elections, today I had a meeting witht he board of directors, the month of Ramadan is coming up so we can not yet disclose a date for the upcoming elections.

We still have to deal with transfers and get a new coach, these are all priorities for us right now. We will organize the elections once these priorities have been dealt with.

Besiktas is the most important thing for us, there are very important projects which need to be finalized first this summer. We want to get all of this out of the way first so the elections won’t cause any delays for these projects.”

WE WANT TO GET A MANAGER WHO MATCHES OUR HIGH EXPECTATIONS…

“When you look at a coach there are certain expectations. Under Bilic we played attractive football but still defended well as a block, we kept the spaces between the lines compact for our opponents. This is why we did so well in Europe against big teams. If we did not play in such a way we would not have been able to play good games as we did in Europe. If we look at the World cup, Brazil probably has the best players in the world but the Germans still beat them by a large margin due to their organization and collective strength. Bilic did very well to implement a solid organization in to our team.

We had no problem with this, we spoke to our coach and we agreed to go our sepperate ways. We want a manager who will continue what Bilic started, we want a manager who won’t panic under pressure and who will deliver on our high expectations.

Had we won the championship Bilic would have 99% stayed at the club.”

WE COULD HAVE BEEN CHAMPIONS LAST SEASON…

“We saw a very good performance from our team in Europe this past season. We always do very well but then we trip over our own feet. We’ve had 3 constructive seasons but it has always been stressful, I want a season in which I can relax and enjoy our football without having to worry about us dropping the ball at the final stage. We want to turn a new page once the stadium is finished.”

I SPOKE TO LUCESCU…

“We have a good relationship with Mirceau Lucescu. I have spoken with Lucescu many times over time. If Lucescu comes back to Turkey he will not join any other club but Besiktas, he told me this personally. Lucescu is very fond of Besiktas.

We have asked him to keep us updated on his situation. But Besiktas is not a club who will sit around and wait for someone to come or not to come.”

I PREFER A NATIVE MANAGER…

“We have a system in place, if we add 3-4 quality signings to the team I think we’re done. Then we’ll have the most beautiful stadium, training facilities and best fans in the world. There is no more reason for us not to become a world class club if we manage that. I prefer to get a Turkish coach, once we’re playing in the Vodafone Arena we’ll be a step ahead of the competition. We’ve seen plenty of high profile foreign coaches (like Del Bosque, Aragones, Prandelli, Mancini, etc.) come to Turkey and fail. This will not be a decision based on ego or emotion.”

AN IMPORTANT DECISION…

“I really like Senol Günes, we need to make a wise decision. There are other managers I really like, like Sergen Yalçin, people I’d like to give a chance to. A person who will be running our team must also be able to represent our fanbase. He needs to fit the entire profile. Bilic had a really good connection with our fans.”

TRANSFER PLANS…

“There is no player that cant be bought, and no player that can not be sold. We haven’t received any offers for Gökhan Töre or Demba Ba. We have new names for 2-3 positions.

We want to buy a left winger and a central defender. I will not go into further details or names, our job is to buy the best players available.

To be honest, neither Tolga or Cenk has had a great season. We have a very good goalkeeper trainer in José Sambade, last week I spoke to him. We have had more than 262 training sessions over the past season of which 152 Tolga could not attend. Cenk also had problems. This is something we need to analyse with our new coach once he has been appointed.”

I SPOKE TO TAYFUN KORKUT…

“I spoke with Tayfun Korkut in regards to the sportive director position, but Tayfun wants to remain in charge of a team. It’s not easy to find the right person for this job, especially in Turkey. We continue to look eagerly for the right person to fill this function within our club.”

WE WANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL…

“We want to be champions and we want to win the Europa League, if a team like Dnipro can reach the finals of the Europa League then why wouldn’t we be able to do so too?

We’ve increased our budget and with the right coach and the correct transfers we hope to be successful and attain a higher level.”

WE WILL FIGHT TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS…

“I wish I could be here in front of you today as president of the champions, but I’m used to having to fight for things. That’s how I’ve always done it, I am confident that we’ll achieve our goals and be successful!”
