Former Beşiktaş captain and Czech international Tomas Sivok is currently undergoing his medical with Bursaspor.

The 31-year old central defender joined Beşiktaş in the summer of 2008 on a transfer fee estimated between €4,5 and 5,5 Mio from Udinese, on a 4-year deal.

In his first season he immediately celebrated the double as the Black Eagles won both the Turkish Süper Lig and the Turkish cup.

In 2012 after an impressive performance on during the EURO’s and with an expiring contract there was a lot of speculation that Sivok might go to La Liga but ultimately he decided to stay at Beşiktaş and signed a new 3-year contract extention, expiring June 30th 2015.

He continued to spend seven years at the club and even became the team’s captain in the past few years. Unfortunately, in his last two seasons he had a lot of injury woes.

During the final game of the 2014-2015 season, Tomas Sivok was given a heroes farewell as he was subbed off symbolically in the 87th minute to a standing ovation from the crowd.

After the match Tomas Sivok cryptically hinted at a prolongued stay in Turkey as he said “I hope to play in the Vodafone arena with my new team.”.

His contract was not extended anymore and he now has an expiring contract and for the past six months has been free to negotiate with other clubs; for a while it looked like he might be heading to his old club Sparta Prague but it’s now clear that he will remain in Turkey to play for Bursaspor.

We wish Tomas Sivok all the best at Bursaspor and we’ll all be waiting for him when he visits the Vodafone Arena. No longer as our player, but still as a legend of our club that we’ll never forget.
