Shenhua announce signing of Demba Ba

Over the past two weeks it has become clear that the Black Eagles and their top scorer Demba Ba would be parting ways, as long as the right amount of money was put on the table. Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua have done so byputting forward a €13,5-14 million bid for the Senegalese striker.

This offer has been accepted by Beşiktaş and the Chinese club has been negotiating with Demba Ba for several days. However, it seemed for a long time that West Bromwich Albion would come in with a £ 10 million offer for the player as he stated himself that he wanted a return to the Premier League.

Ba was hesitant at first to sign for Shenhua as he preferred to continue his career in Europe and was hoping for an offer from an English club. West Brom did not reach an agreement with Beşiktaş however, atleast not on time. And Ba ultimately accepted Shanghai’s lucrative €7,5 million annual offer.

Shanghai Shenhua have announced that Demba Ba will undergo a medical tomorow in Shanghai.

Beşiktaş are yet to confirm the transfer officially through their official channels but the Chinese club have gone ahead and confirmed the deal on their official website. Of course, pending a successful medical.  It will also be an interesting time for Ersan Gülüm’s move, as Shanghai also made a near € 5 million bid for him, which was accepted by the Black Eagles.

Beşiktaş  paid only € 6 million for Demba Ba this past summer from Chelsea but 44 official games, 27 goals and 7 assists later he is already back on his way out with the Black Eagles making a near € 8 million profit on the Senegalese hitman who just turned 30 last month.
