Rhodolfo expected in Istanbul on Tuesday

Updated: July 18, 2015

According to NTV Spor, Grémio captain Luiz Rhodolfo Dini Gaioto is expected to arrive in Istanbul on Tuesday to undergo his medical before joining the team at the Austria training camp.

Ten days ago Beşiktaş had abandoned their efforts to sign Rhodolfo and instead set their sights on Dnipro’s Douglas Silva and Dynamo Moscow’s Douglas Teixeira.

However, with Douglas Teixeira on his way to Sporting Lisbon and Dnipro wanting a € 5,5 million transfer fee for Douglas Silva, the Black Eagles turned their sights once again towards the Grémio skipper.

Beşiktaş had agreed a transfer fee of € 3,3 million for Rhodolfo according to reports in Brazil, but Grémio asked for a bank guarantee before the transfer could go through.

NTV Spor are now reporting that Beşiktaş will pay a fee of € 3 million for Rhodolfo’s transfer to his club Grémio. Rhodolfo, 28, will sign a 4-year contract with the Black Eagles.

“He told me he wants to join Beşiktaş.”

Rhodolfo’s mind seemed to be set on joining Beşiktaş according to his teammate Fernandinho (striker at Grémio) who revealed to the Brazilian press, “I spoke to Rhodolfo and he told me he wants to join Beşiktaş, this is a big loss for us. He is one of the best defenders in Brazil. But I am happy for him that he will get a chance to play in Europe.”.
