The Beşiktaş football has completed their pre-season training camp in Austria after a two week stay and have returned to Istanbul to continue their pre-season preperations and have already undergone a morning training session today and will continue this afternoon at 18:00 (GMT+2) with another training session.

Beşiktaş had been in Austria since the 20th of July and completed several friendly matches while there, including a defeat at the hands of Sturm Graz, a 0-0 and 2-2 draw with French sides Lille OSC and OGC Nice respectively and a 5-0 and 3-0 victory over Slovenian side NK Zavrc and Croatian side NK Zadar.

Firat Günayer reported that the revelations of the training camp were first and foremost Cenk Tosun, who scored 4 goals in 3 friendly matches. Oguzhan Özyakup who has made incedible physical progress and youngster Eslem Öztürk, who impressed both during the friendlies and the training sessions.

Most dissapointing performancers during the training camp in Austria and Germany were José Sosa, Ramon Motta and Pedro Franco. All performed “sub-par” according to Günayer. Franco might even be loaned out or even sold, Günayer reports that Beşiktaş could bring in another central defender once they’ve completed the signing of a defensive midfielder.

Firat Günayer also made some comments about our new transfers.

  • Andreas Beck still needs time to adjust,
  • Dusko Tosic is a standard level player,
  • Ricardo Quaresma will add flavour to the team,
  • Mario Gomes, he shoots he scores.

Beşiktaş now have a little under two weeks to prepare for the season opener away against Mersin Idmanyurdu.
