Beşiktaş have announced the total debt of the club for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2015 at the sports club council meeting.

Chairman of the supervisory board Feyyaz Tuncel announced that the club’s total debt has risen to 971.795.974 Turkish Lira. (US $ 349.441.199 / EURO € 318.658.923)

With the severe devaluation of the Turkish Lira the total debt of the club has seemingly increased by a little under 400 million Turkish Lira since 2012. However, it is important to know that in 2012 one US Dollar was worth 1,78 Turkish Lira. Today in 2015 one US Dollar is worth 2,78 Turkish Lira. This is the major reason for the huge increase in debt over the last 3 years. In reality, while the debt has risen around 380-390 million Turkish Lira, it has only increased by roughly US $ 25.000.000 compared to 2012 when the club’s debt was roughly US $ 325.000.000. Given that the club has severely decreased wage costs and closed down all running CAS cases against the club (Matteo Ferrari, Vicente Del Bosque, etc) and on top of that has been building a new stadium which will ultimately cost the club US $ 100.000.000 and so far has already cost the club US$ 75.000.000, this really isn’t a big increase at all.
