Galatasaray coach Hamza Hamzaoğlu has been pressing his board to transfer a reserve goalkeeper over the past few weeks and they had recently expressed interest in Cenk Gönen but a deal could not be reached with Beşiktaş over the transfer fee.

Cenk Gönen recently put in a transfer request after it became clear that he would be demoted to third goalkeeper for the coming season behind Tolga Zengin and Günay Güvenç. Beşiktaş however does not want to let Cenk go for free which initially posed an issue for the cash strapped Galatasaray but they have now come in with an offer of € 700,000 for the 27-year old goalkeeper. Beşiktaş are looking positively at the offer and it is expected that any minor details remaining will be resolved and Cenk will join the Galatasaray squad.
