Beşiktaş have put in a last grasp offer for Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel in their pursuit for a new defensive midfielder. The Black Eagles had previously reached an agreement with Liverpool and their player Lucas Leiva, however after a solid performance against Arsenal last week the move was blocked by LFC’s coach Brendan Rodgers.

Beşiktaş had since looked at several options, including Genoa’s Juraj Kucka but the Slovakian ultimately ended up joining AC Milan. Now the Black Eagles have made a final offer for Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel.

There has also been a last minute development on the goalkeeper front, Beşiktaş had previously reached an agreement with Manchest United’s 33-year old Victor Valdés. The Spaniard was Istanbul bound untill Şenol Güneş blocked the move yesterday.

Beşiktaş president Fikret Orman has now scheduled a meeting with coach Şenol Güneş tomorow during deadline day and if he manages to convince the experienced coach, Valdés could be ready at a moment’s notice.
