International round-up

Updated: September 7, 2015

8 Beşiktaş players were called up to the National Team ahead of the international break:

Turkey: Gökhan Töre, Olcay Şahan, Ersan Gülüm and Oğuzhan Özyakup

Turkey A2: Cenk Tosun

Portugal: Ricardo Quaresma

Canada: Atiba Hutchinson

Sweden: Alexander Milosevic

The most notable performance came from Oğuzhan Özyakup. Oğuzhan started the ever so important Euro 2016 Qualifier against the Netherlands after not featuring against Latvia and scored the opening goal with a lovely chip in a 3-0 win for Turkey. He was later on replaced by Olcay Şahan in the 82nd minute. That was Olcay’s only appearance for Turkey in the two Euro 2016 Qualifier matches.

Gökhan Töre also featured for Turkey in a disappointing 1-1 draw against Latvia. He started the game, but got subbed off later on in the 2nd half. Gökhan didn’t go on to play in the Netherlands match.

Atiba Hutchinson was able to grab a goal in the 90th minute for Canada in a 3-0 win against Belize. Canada will now face Belize again in the 2nd leg of the qualifier and Atiba will most likely start for Canada again.

Ricardo Quaresma came off the bench for both of Portugal’s games against France (friendly) and Albania (Euro 2016 Qualifier). Quaresma assisted the winning goal against Albania from a corner in stoppage time.

Cenk Tosun started for Turkey A2 and scored in the final of the Challenge Trophy Tournament against Slovakia. The game ended 2-2 and Turkey went on to lose in penalties.

Both Ersan Gülüm and Alexander Milosevic didn’t feature for their National Team. However, Sweden still has another game to play against Austria so Milosevic could possibly be able to play in that game.
