Matchday 9

Beşiktaş travel to Antalya on matchday 9 of the 2015-2016 Spor Toto Süper Lig season but will do so without Gökhan Töre and José Sosa who did not travel with the team after picking up minor injuries in the midweek Europa League confrontation with Lokomotiv Moscow (1-1).

The injuries to Töre and Sosa have put Şenol Güneş in a pickle as he is left with few alternatives given that he already has to do without both Veli Kavlak and Tolgay Arslan. Ricardo Quaresma, who has put in good performances in the past two Süper Lig games against Eskisehirspor and Rizespor with an assist away at Eskisehir and the winning goal at home against Rizespo, will certainly be starting against Antalyaspor alongside Olcay Şahan on the wings. While Necip Uysal will likely take Sosa’s place in midfield, moving Oguzhan Özyakup in to a more offensive role. İsmail started in the past two games at leftback and will likely do so again, while the rest of the team seems set in stone as it has been the entire season.

Samuel Eto'o has made a real impact in the Süper Lig, scoring 6 times in 8 appearances for Antalyaspor.

Samuel Eto’o has made a real impact in the Süper Lig, scoring 6 times in 8 appearances for Antalyaspor.

Antalyaspor got an impressive victory on the road last weekend in Bursa, after the hosts went down to 10 men. Samuel Eto’o netted his sixth of the season, he will without a doubt be the man to watch for the hosts who are opening their brand new Antalya stadium. Naturally the home side will be extremely motivated to win this game as it is the historic first match at their new home stadium.

This difficult away game comes one day after the joint number two’s in the league, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, face eachother. An excellent chance for the Black Eagles to expand their lead on atleast one of their rivals, this will however not prove easy against a strong opponent in Antalyaspor and having to do without Gökhan Töre who has been key so far this season with one goal and five assists in the Süper Lig already.

Beşiktaş have some tough games ahed of them the coming weeks with in the Süper Lig a home game against Kasimpaşa and an away game versus Bursaspor the week after while facing Lokomotiv Moscow at the Atatürk Olimpiyat in between, but first they will need to overcome Antalyaspor on Monday. A crucial 3 week stretch for the Black Eagles, no doubt.

Another interesting fact is that the Black Eagles received three red cards in the last three matches officiated by referee Ilker Meral.

Beşiktaş predicted XI

Tolga Zengin; Andreas Beck – Luiz Rhodolfo – Ersan Gülüm – İsmail Köybaşi; Atiba Hutchinson – Necip Uysal – Oguzhan Özyakup; Ricardo Quaresma – Olcay Şahan – Mario Gómez
