Antalyaspor – Beşiktaş post match reactions

Şenol Güneş: “Antalyaspor has a good team and some good players, but we have players with more quality. There was a great atmosphere today. Both teams started in a high tempo. If we would have made the right choices we could have grabbed the win already in the first half. The tempo decreased in the second half, which is pretty normal. We controlled the game completely. I want to congratulate all my players. They played with discipline and devotion and that made me happy, because we played very attacking but still thought about the defence when we lost possession. We feared injuries because of the pitch. Oguzhan had some problems with his thigh but it seems like there’s nothing to be worried about.”

Güneş also makes clear that the players who are subbed on should be ready: “I am not doing a thing, the players are doing everything. People might get emotional sometimes, but it should be momentarily. Our substitutes should be ready. Maybe someone who isn’t playing right now could be in the starting line-up in 2 months. Everything is in the hands of the players. Every player that works hard has a place in the team.”

Tolga Zengin: “The victory is great but I want to talk about something more important than the game. I want to wish Antalyaspor good luck with their new stadium. The pitch isn’t completely ready though. The safety of players is more important than the scoreboard. We could have just as well played on land. When a player gets injured here, the importance of the opening will vanish. The victory would be overshadowed as well. Finishing a match without injuries is more important than the win.”

Kasimpasa head coach Rıza Çalımbay: “Tolga is right. They wanted to have the pitch ready when a big club visits. That’s why mistakes like these and unwanted injuries happen. The same thing happened when I was the head coach at Mersin and both us and Besiktas had some injuries then.”

Olcay Şahan: “Coach Riza made a good analysis. I want to thank our fans. We know our own quality. We came here to get 3 points and we are very happy we got them. The important thing is to wear the Beşiktaş jersey. When one player is missing, the other is playing. We have shown this on the pitch. Today at the hotel Tolga and Serdar said I would score a goal. That’s why they came to me. I want to thank them as well. I want to gift my goal to Tümer. I promised him that after his birthday of last week.”

Andreas Beck: “We are very happy with this important win. With Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray drawing we have now increased the gap to 4 points. We are in the middle of a difficult schedule. We controlled the game well and took the win with 5 goals. We are showing development. We have to control the game with a good passing when we are tired. This is the philosophy of our coach. The game becomes a lot easier when you manage to do this right.”
