STSL: Bursaspor: 0 Beşiktaş: 1

Updated: November 8, 2015

Beşiktaş got 3 golden points tonight in the away game against Bursaspor on matchday 11 of the 2015-2016 Spor Toto Süper Lig season.

The Black Eagles did not play a good game and only created two good chances all game, one being in the first half after an excellent Trivela pass by Ricardo Quaresma on Mario Gómez, which goalkeeper Mert Günok did very well to save, and the other being Oguzhan’s goal right at the death in the 89th minute.

Bursaspor started the game off well and kept a lot of pressure on the ball, Beşiktaş struggled in midfield as they started with both Sosa and Oguzhan allongside defensive midfielder Atiba Hutchinson. This was adjusted at half time as Sosa was taken off in favour of Necip Uysal. This helped slightly in creating a bit more stability but it also saw to it that the Black Eagles were much less dangerous in the opposition’s half.

It wasn’t untill the 74th minute when Olcay came on to replace Quaresma that we saw a few good strings of passes and Olcay was also involved in the combination leading to the winning goal.

It’s not like Bursaspor had a lot of chances either, in fact they arguably had less big chances than the Black Eagles. They had a header from Bekir in the first half, on a corner, hitting the bar. Apart from that Tolga only really had to save one attempt from Cuenca and some shots from outside the box. Bursaspor did well to put a lot of pressure on Beşiktaş, but they did not create any clear-cut chances apart from Cuenca’s chance in the first half. But the same goes for the Black Eagles as they only created 2 good chances as previously mentioned.

Mario Gómez could not get on the scoresheet and was substituted off in the 85th minute, which did not prevent him from celebrating the goal with his teammates.

Apart from that the Black Eagles had some dangerous looking set-pieces, Serdar Aziz made a very good and important block on a shot from Rhodolfo while at the other end the majority of work for Tolga came from some long range efforts which never looked like going in.

The game looked like it was going to be the first scoreless game for the Black Eagles and their second consecutive draw, but a very good combination at the end leading to the goal decided otherwise over the game’s outcome.

After Oguzhan’s goal, Beşiktaş contained Bursaspor well and easily secured the 3 points in the final 5 minutes of the match.

Regardless this will be 3 important points to count, but a game to quickly forget. Beşiktaş play Medicana Sivasspor in two weeks at the Başakşehir stadium after the international break in which Turkey play Qatar and Greece.
