Matchday 12

League leaders Beşiktaş face 16 placed Sivasspor on matchday 12 of the 2015-2016 Spor Toto Süper Lig season at the Başakşehir stadium in Istanbul.

The visitors have had a difficult start to the season, only getting their first win on this past matchday at home against Gaziantepspor: 3-0. Prior to that they managed to get six points from six draws and suffered four defeats.

Despite the lack of 3 pointers, Sivasspor are not a pushover and still have several quality players on their roster including Moroccon international Aatif Chahechouhe and former Real Madrid man Cicinho, who provides quality crosses from the right wing and from set-pieces.

Sivasspor will have to do without their suprising joint topscorer however as central defender John Boye saw two yellow cards against Gaziantepspor and therefore will miss tomorow’s confrontation with the Black Eagles. Boye has ben benefitting a lot from Cicinho’s quality deliveries on set pieces and has already scored four goals this season.

Midfielder Aatif Chahechouhe became topscorer of the 2013-2014 Süper Lig season with 17 goals and went on to score 13 in last season’s campaign aswell.

Beşiktaş legend Sergen Yalçin was recently sacked as coach by Sivasspor due to the lack of victories, despite him having Sivasspor play some good football, and was replaced by another former Beşiktaş man in Okan Buruk.

Sivasspor brought in the topscorer from the Greek Super League last season with Asteras Tripolis’ Jerónimo Barrales but the Argentinian striker has been unable to find the back of the net in six appearances. A problem all of Sivasspor’s strikers seem to have as none of them have managed to score more than one goal this season, including former Beşiktaş  players Batuhan Karadeniz and Michael Eneramo.

As he has been for the past two seasons, Aatif Chahechouhe is still the most dangerous goal threat, scoring 3 goals so far this season. The 29 year old Moroccon has managed to score an impressive 39 goals for Sivasspor so far in the Süper Lig in 106 appearances. Not bad for an offensive midfielder.

For the Black Eagles there are no injuries or suspension apart from Tolgay Arslan who won’t be back until the second half of the season and Veli Kavlak who has only just started training again after a lengthy absence due to his shoulder injury.

With topscorer Mario Gómez going through a traumatic experience a little over a week ago as he was playing for the German national team at the Parc des Princes in Paris when the terrorist attacks took place, it might be difficult for him to fully concentrate on football right now. Hopefully for Mario his football can take his mind off of the terrible tragedy which happened in France.

Cenk Tosun on the flip side of the medallion got his first international goal for Turkey this past international break as he scored t he winner in a friendly match against Qatar, an excellent header on a quality delivery from Arda Turan in the 63rd minute of that friendly match.

Gökhan Töre has missed several training sessions due to some minor pains, but should be ready to go Sunday. Quaresma also had some minor troubles during the past two weeks in training but is looking healthy aswell.

Şenol Güneş and his troops will need to secure 3 points to be sure about remaining top of the table, although both Fenerbahçe (2 points behind) and Galatasaray (5 points behind) are playing the day before the Black Eagles.

Beşiktaş predicted XI

Tolga Zengin; Andreas Beck – Luiz Rhodolfo – Ersan Adem Gülüm – Ismail Köybaşi; Atiba Hutchinson – Oguzhan Özyakup – José Sosa; Gökhan Töre – Olcay Şahan – Mario Gómez
