The Black Eagles collected another important 3 points on matchday twelve of the 2015-2016 Spor Toto Süper Lig season thanks to a penalty goal from topscorer Mario Gómez and a late strike by Oguzhan Özyakup.

It was a stressful game however as the Black Eagles started well to the game in the opening 15 minutes but missed several big opportunities. Both Olcay and José Sosa had very good oportunities to open the scoring early on but both shot their chances wide.

After a very high tempo opening 15 minutes the visitors restored balance to the game a bit and had a few dangerous looking attacks of their own without really having a big chance.

In the 43rd minute Atiba Hutchinson was brought down in the box by Adem Koçak, although the contact was light. Hüseyin Göçek pointed to the spot and Mario Gómez converted the penalty to put the Black Eagles 1-0 up just before halftime.

Oguzhan Özyakup pulls his team across the finish line yet again with another excellent strike from the edge of the box, his 4th goal of the season.

In the second half there were a lot of dangerous breaks from the Black Eagles as Sivasspor players kept losing the ball in midfield, leading to several very good opportunities with a man more situation in attack but all of these chances were squandered. Olcay, Gómez and Cenk Tosun all had chances to kill the game but they weren’t sharp enough in front of goal, so the game remained tense until the dying minutes when Oguzhan Özyakup finally scored the deserved 2-0. A carbon copy of his goal away at Bursa, an excellent low driven shot from the edge of the box.

It was a nervous game because that second goal came so late and Sivasspor had several dangerous breaks but looked poor in the final third as they really gave the impression that they could have played another entire 90 minutes without scoring a goal. The most dangerous attack they had was when Aatif Chahechouhe was clean through on goal, but he took too long one on one with Tolga and allowed Luiz Rhodolfo to make an ultimate tackle on the ball to rob him of his excellent opporutnity, the Sivasspor bench was furious and demanded a penalty but the replay showed that Rhodolfo played the ball and not the man.

This win now moves Beşiktaş two points clear at the top with Fenerbahçe in seocnd place, but the Black Eagles leave rivals Galatasaray 7 points behind them as they dropped points for the second matchday running.

Beşiktaş will undoubtedly need to play a lot sharper next week when they face Akhisar Belediyespor, again at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim stadium, they won’t be able to afford themselves to miss such good opportunities as Akhisar are dangerous both on set-pieces and from open play, whereas Sivasspor have struggled so far this season to score many goals.
