The Black Eagles have suffered a devastating home defeat at the hands of Akhisar Belediyespor on matchday 13 of the 2015-2016 Spor Toto Süper Lig season.

The ball had only been rolling for a good four minutes when Akhisar captain Güray slipped through the defence, passed Tolga and put it in the back of the net.

After that the Black Eagles took control of the game and put a lot of pressure forward, but despite creating several very good chances this did not result in a goal. Just like in the past few games the Black Eagles were very wasteful in front of goal and seemed to lack the finesse in the final third of the game as compared to the beginning of the season when the ball seemed to fly in to the oppositions goal with our hands tied behind our backs.

In the 40th minute, Akhisar had their second attack of the match. Sami fired a weak shot goal which Tolga completely missjudged and all of a sudden it stood 0-2 with two shots from the opposition side. While the first goal was a well crafted attack and good finish, this was a very bad goal to concede as Tolga should really have saved this with ease.

As the first half was drawing to a close the Black Eagles continued to put pressure on Milan Lukac’ goal, but couldn’t find that lifeline they so desperately needed for the second half.

Şenol Güneş took off Olcay Şahan at halftime and put in an extra striker with Cenk Tosun, who had scored a brace this past Thursday against Skënderbeu in the Europa League.

It had little effect however, the homeside continued to press the visitors against their own box but with no goal coming early in the second half you could see the confidence slip away, as we approached the 70 minute mark and Gökhan Töre had replaced José Sosa at this point, it were the visitors who started taking more control. And at this point it really seemed as if our players could have played an entire extra 90 minutes and still wouldn’t have found a goal.

The second half ended as the first and Akhisar Belediyespor pulled off a deserved victory based on how well they executred their gameplan. Despite having nearly 20 corners, 75% ball possession for large chunks of the game and playing at home, the Black Eagles never really gave the impression that they were going to get back in to this match after that disastrous second goal.
