Beşiktaş to renew interest in David Ospina

Beşiktaş‘ transfer list for this winter break included a few goalkeepers, but it is now reported that Deportivo’s Fabricio Ramirez has suffered an injury, leaving only one name on the list: David Ospina.

Beşiktaş goalkeeper trainer José Sambade rated Fabricio very highly and was the one who recommended his transfer, but it is reported that the goalkeeper has torn his left knee ligament and will be out for the rest of this season after he undergoes his needed surgery. Ramirez will be examined today and the board is awaiting the definitive news on his injury. If the Spaniard is indeed out for the rest of the season his name will be taken off the transfer list of the Black Eagles, making Arsenal’s Ospina the only remaining candidate.

David Ospina is currently Arsenal’s second goalkeeper after Petr Cech and his chances on playing time in the first team are therefore very slim. If Ramirez really is injured for as long as is reported the Beşiktaş board will speed up Ospina’s transfer, which could be a permanent transfer, but also a loan deal.

Ospina was close to a Beşiktaş move in 2012, but his club at the time (Nice) and the Black Eagles could not agree on the financial details. Beşiktaş have followed Ospina closely throughout the following 3,5 years and he was never far from their minds.
