Yesterday Gökhan Töre scored the decisive goal in the derby of Beşiktaş against Galatasaray (2-1). What was perhaps even more interesting was the way he celebrated this goal. The young winger ran towards the Beşiktaş fans while doing a ‘facepalm’: he covered his face with one hand. This celebration was imitated on social media a lot, since many Beşiktaş fans shared their pictures online while striking the same pose.

Töre has now explained this goal celebration on the club’s official website:

“This was a celebration that has meaning in the circle of my closest friends Murat Balli, Murat Saka, Nassim Touihri and Ali Pektaş. I planned this celebration before. That my ‘Töreface’ goal celebration is trending, is being done by our fans and that social media are blowing up with these pictures made me very happy. I’m very happy I scored the decisive goal.”
