Beşiktaş – Torku Konyaspor post match reactions

Updated: December 27, 2015

Mario Gomez

“It was a tough match.”

“We couldn’t break through in the first half. We said to each other we need to increase the tempo at halftime and we did this very well. We scored nice goals and didn’t give the opponent any chances. The first half (of the season) went very well for us. We were the team who played the best. We still need to perform better. We have a big chance to reach our goal (championship). I’m happy to be here. I’m a piece of a good team. I’m not thinking about what will happen in the summer. My goal is to be champions with Beşiktaş and to go to France with the German National Team.”

Oğuzhan Özyakup

“We put the pressure on and scored.”

“We had possession of the ball in the first half, but couldn’t create many chances. We started off the second half with pressure and found the goal we were looking for. They opened up after the goal and gave us more space. When the team is good, it’s easier to display your individual abilities. We started the season well and finished the first half as leaders.”

Şenol Güneş

“We closed the first half of the season with a nice result.”

“We started the season off well and finished the first half with a good result. We could’ve gotten more points. We had a good team against us today. They closed off spaces well and played smart. We played smarter and with more patience in the second half. I thank my players, board and the fans. We have 22 players and all of them are important for us. The player who comes on later on in the game can start next game. We’re doing our best and trying to play with joy. Nothing is over yet. We still have weaknesses. We don’t have a goalkeeper problem, but we do need to bring in another goalkeeper.”

Ismail Köybaşı

“We did well and finished as leaders.”

“I would like to send my condolences to Eslem (recently got injured). He’s a promising talented player. We did good things as a team and completed the first half as leaders. Hopefully we’ll be champions at the end of the season.”
