Beşiktaş players in their final 6 months of contract

Updated: December 29, 2015

With the winter transfer window starting on the 5th of January there are several Beşiktaş players who are in the final 6 months of their contracts, meaning they can negotiate with other clubs under the Bosman ruling and leave on a free transfer in June when their contracts expire.

Ramon Motta, İsmail Köybaşı and Serdar Kurtuluş all have expiring contracts in 2016 and will be able to freely meet with other clubs in a few days time. Ramon Motta will not get a new contract and whether Serdar will be offered a new contract yet remains to be seen as the 28 year old rightback has only played 2 matches so far this season, however he may be kept as a backup to Andreas Beck at a reduced wage. İsmail Köybaşı is very likely to be offered a new contract as he has been the first choice leftback in recent months.

İsmail finds himself back as the first choice leftback at the club for the first time in nearly two years.

Ramon Motta is expected to depart the club in January on a permanent transfer to another Süper Lig club, or perhaps a six month loan with a loan fee being paid allowing the club to then decide to sign him permanently on a free or not. Serdar will be staying for atleast six more months and so will Ismail, as Serdar is the first choice backup for Andreas Beck and İsmail as previously mentioned is currently the first choice leftback. Unless a new leftback is purchased this January (which there have been no hints of), he will very likely get a contract extention unless he himself decides on another career path.

İsmail Köybaşı joined Beşiktaş in the summer of 2009, following the Black Eagles’ last championship to date, from Gaziantepspor for a steep fee of € 5,5 million. İsmail was brought in as the successor of club legend İbrahim Üzülmez, who was at the tail end of his career at the time. And after the retirement of Üzülmez he took over as the first choice leftback of the Black Eagles, however two serious knee injuries in 2013 cost him a year of his career and also slowed down his progression as a football player, last season he was used sparingly by Slaven Bilic and even posted at the rightback position at times. But it wasn’t until this season, under Senol Güneş, that İsmail finally managed to reclaim his place as the first choice leftback of the team. After nearly six years at the club, his contract is now set to expire in June, but it seems likely that he will be offered a contract extention.

Ramon Motta scored the equalizer in a 1-1 draw with Fenerbahçe back in 2013.

Ramon Motta joined Beşiktaş on a season long loan from Corinthians back in 2013 under Slaven Bilic and impressed during his first 12 months at the club with as a highlight his goal against Fenerbahçe at the Atatürk Olimipyat, earning him a permanent move in the summer of 2014 for a novice fee of € 1,1 million. However the 2014-2015 season saw a lot of ups and down for Ramon, who only signed a 2 year deal with the Black Eagels, and he is now in the last 6 months of his contract.

Jean Tigana reformed Serdar from rightback to defensive midfielder during his first stint with the club between 2006 and 2009.

Serdar Kurtuluş is in his second stint as a Beşiktaş player. Serdar first joined the Black Eagels from Bursaspor on a € 1 million transfer fee way back in 2006 and played a lot of games as a central defensive midfielder, but in 2009 he was actually involved in a player trade deal with Gaziantepspor and let go. However, Beşiktaş regretted this several years later and brought him back in 2013 on a € 1,8 millino fee to replace their departing rightback Roberto Hilbert. Serdar played the majority of the 2013-2014 season as the number one rightback but received a lot of critisism from the fans for a few mistakes he made in big games and many expected Beşiktaş to replace him in the summer of 2014 with a new rightback as Slaven Bilic seemed to insist on a transfer for this position. However, this did not happen and Serdar continued to play as the starting rightback for the Black Eagles throughout the 2014-2015 season and actually managed to redeem himself with the fans thanks to solid performances throughout the season. But with the arrival of Andreas Beck this past summer he now finds himself on the bench as a backup to the first team and has thusfar only played in friendly mathces and Turkish cup games with soon only 6 months remaining on his contract, he could decide to look elsewhere for more playing opportunities or perhaps he will extend his contract and remain as a reliable reserve for the first team.

There is also Tolga Zengin, who signed a 3 year deal with the Black Eagles back in 2013 and his contract is supposed to expire at the end of this season (2015-2016) aswell according to the official announcement by the club (which can be found here). The official website of the TFF does not note any contract extention for Tolga but has his contract listed to expire in 2017 (you can view this here), so there is some slight confusion about his contract status.
