Antalyaspor officially sign Ramon Motta

Updated: January 9, 2016

Earlier today we reported that Ramon Motta had said goodbye to all his teammates and to the technical staff during Beşiktaş‘ training this morning and then left the camp to join Antalyaspor. That has now happened, the Brazilian has officially signed a contract for 2.5 years with Antalyaspor.

The left-back officially became an Antalyaspor player during a signing ceremony at Antalyaspor’s Hasan Subaşı complex, which was held this afternoon. Antalyaspor president Gültekin Gencer, vice-president Ali Ilhan Sav and board member Okan Alanyalı were also present at the ceremony.

“We have high expectations of Motta”

President Gencer said the following about this transfer during the ceremony: “Motta already came to Antalya to speak with us. The first thing he said was ‘I want to play for Antalyaspor. If you can set up the terms, I’m an Antalyaspor player’. He left our meeting by promising us that. We see him as one of the most valuable transfers we have made this window. We have high expectations of him. I believe he can meet those expectations. We signed a 2.5 year deal.”

“We didn’t have any problems with Beşiktaş

Motta ensured that he had no problems with Beşiktaş during the period of his departure: “I want to thank the president for believing in me. I’m going to give everything I have to meet the expectations. I don’t hold any grudges against Beşiktaş. I spoke with head coach Şenol Güneş and I got his permission. I said I wanted to leave to play. Now I am an Antalyaspor player. I’m going to do good things for Antalyaspor. Eto’o is a leader and a good player. I’m happy I get to play with him.”

Beşiktaş loaned Motta from Corinthians in the 2013-2014 season, before permanentely buying him for € 1.1 million at the start of the 2014-2015 season. This season he only made one league appearance, on matchday 2 against Trabzonspor. The only other two games in which he featured this season were the two cup games against Karabükspor and Sivas Belediyespor. He was receiving a € 1.1 million wage for the current season.
