After finishing up the mid season training camp in Antalya, Beşiktaş travelled to Trabzon for their cup match with second division side 1461 Trabzon at the Hüseyin Avni Aker stadium. Before the game both teams had the maximum amount of points from two matches with six each.

Beşiktaş started with a strong attacking lineup with Cenk Tosun, Quaresma and Kerim Frei as the most attacking players but Oguzhan and Sosa also started in midfield.

1461 Trabzon started the match extremely motivated and they managed to contain the Black Eagles quite well, the best chances were definitely for Beşiktaş in the first half but if it hadn’t been for a wrong offside call from the linesman then we could easily say that 1461 Trabzon had had one of the biggest chances in the first half aswell, although Ali Kuçik missed narrowly.

The game came at het tail end of the first half when Kerim Frei squeezed an inch perfect pass throught he defence to set up José Sosa with the opening goal.

In the second half Beşiktaş tried to press up a bit highe rin search for a second goal but after already having lost the ball several times in midfield which led to dangerous counter attacks, in the 66th minute Gökhan Töre lost the ball and Yüksel ran with it at the defence, dribbling past both central defenders, Necip Uysal and Pedro Franco, and shooting it past goalkeeper Günay to level the scores.

Beşiktaş tried to press for a second goal but the quality in the final pass just wasn’t there today, which apart from one or two decent last passes in the first half was pretty much the story of the entire game. With this draw both teams now have 7 points while Sivas Belediye have 3 points and Karabükspor have no points.

In 3 days on the 13th of January, these two sides will meet again in Istanbul, the winner will likely determine who will win the group. Beşiktaş will still need to travel to Karabük after that and receive Sivas Belediye at home while 1461 Trabzon will travel to Sivas and receive Karabük at home.
