ZTK: K. Karabükspor: 2 Beşiktaş: 0

The Black Eagles started out their away Turkish Group C match with line-up made up of mostly reserves. They struggled to get their offense going throughout the game and were down 1-0 at the break, thanks to a 44th-minute goal from Osman. The home side made it 2-0 through Recep at the outset of the second half to pick up all three points. Despite the loss, Beşiktaş remained in first place.

Beşiktaş were already certain from qualifcation from the group while Karabükspor were already eliminated as they had no points. After a defeat earlier during the day on Wednesday for 1461 Trabzon at the hands of Sivas Beleidyespor, Beşiktaş were even certain of winning the group as lon gas they take atleast one point against Sivas Belediyespor at the Atatürk Olimpiyat next week.

The Black Eagles travelled to Karabükspor with only a 15 man squad, as the coach had already indicated last week Sunday after the cancelled match against Mersin in the league. Beşiktaş have an important league game this coming weekend against Trabzonspor and wanted to rest it’s starters.

Despite the outcome of the game, Beşiktaş could have won this match easily but Mustafa Pektemek and Cenk Tosun both proved to be quite wasteful in front of goal during the first and second half while the hosts, who played many of their starters contrary to what they had been doing in previous cup matches, were much more efficient.

Beşiktaş remain in first position in group C of the Turkish cup with 10 points, Sivas Belediye spor have 9 points while 4161 Trabzon have 7 points, Karabükspor remain bottom with only 3 points from 5 games. If the Black Eagles get atleast a point next week against 3rd division side Sivas Belediyespor, they will qualify as group winners, meaning they will play the next round (which is only a single match confrontation) at home. It is extremely likely that the Black Eagles will again field a reserve team next week.

Note: due to technical difficulties with the website this past Wednesday, the site was down for roughly 10 hours and we did not have the opportunity to post a match report, this is the reason for the delay.
