Beşiktaş board member Metin Albayrak adresses Trabzonspor match postponement:

“It could be perceived negatively that our opponents are playing while we aren’t, but we are adjusting ourselves to the schedule and times the Turkish Football Federation has planned beforehand. We came here yesterday. When we came, it was snowing a little, but as hours passed last night the snowfall became heavier. Until this moment it didn’t stop. Our vice-president Ahmet Nur Çebi and head coach Şenol Güneş are as you know from Trabzon. They said ‘we haven’t seen snowfall like this in 40 years’. The airplanes can’t fly. Since noon all our professional friends, the TFF officials, the observer and 4th official have worked on if the stadium could be on a level at which a game could be played. This continued until 17:00. Then, when a decision was needed to be taken, it was postponed. Everything happens for a reason, we need to think positively.”

“Our match schedule is getting a little crammed. We have discussed the suitable dates and times within this schedule with ourselves. We are going to send the TFF a written appeal tomorrow, and we will then start waiting for our dates. We came here to play and we were very prepared. Our moral and motivation were on a very high level. Our team is very eager and has a good moral. Unfortunately the weather conditions didn’t give us permission today.”
