Beşiktaş kept things quiet until the last day of the transfer window but it looks like they’ll be adding one more addition to their squad.

Brazilian central defender Marcelo Guedes from Hannover 96 is very close to joining the Black Eagles as the January transfer window draws to a close. Beşiktaş had shown interest in the 1.91m tall Brazilian in the Summer already but at the time Hannover was not interested in letting him go.

However, over the course of the past week Hannover enquired if the Black Eagles were still interested in Marcelo. Beşiktaş stated that as they currently had four central defenders they were only interested in a player trade, Hannover refused this at first but after a few days came back to the negotiation table and expressed their interest to do business with the Black Eagles.

Whether the all parties will reach an agreement will become clear over the following hours, as the transfer window shuts in Turkey on the 1st of February a deal has to be reached by tonight.

Marcelo who is 28 years old has made 77 Bundesliga appearances, in which he scored 3 goals and assisted 3 more, since joining Hannover 96 during the Summer of 2013. Previously he played 91 Eredivisie matches for PSV Eindhoven in which he scored 6 goals and assisted 2. Prior to that he spent two seasons at Wisla Krakow in Poland where he managed to score an impressive 10 goals in only 38 league appearances.
