Senol Gunes: “We were obliged to start the game 30 minutes later. We were in control of the game and were good in general, but couldn’t do the things we wanted in the attack. We didn’t give them any chances. We are the biggest victims of the weather conditions. Rain, snow, mist are not an excuse but we are effected by this. You can see the difference of the two FIFA referees of last week. The referee had a good game today. We criticise objectively. People think I talk about the referee to change the subject, but that is not the case. I’m curious about on which date they will plan our cup game after our game against Fenerbahçe. Wednesday and Thursday are not possible. How do they do that planning? They said before that they don’t change the date of a game, what are they going to do now? Let them look at that.

The head coach of Besiktas also had something to say about the terrorist attacks in Ankara earlier today: “The bombings in Ankara are very sad. The whole world should condemn terrorism. Unfortunately our country is experiencing this pain, may God rest their soul.

José Sosa: “It was a weird game. When it was unclear if the game was going to be played or not, we lost our concentration. We saw this during the game when we lost the ball in a simple way. These were 3 very important points. I wanted to shoot my free-kick to that corner and I did. The first half was very difficult. We didn’t have a very big chance. When we got that free-kick I concentrated well and wanted to shoot it there.”

Cenk Tosun: “We asked the referee to play this game. Mersin is in a good form and we knew that they were going to make it difficult for us, despite being ranked low. We had possession in the first half. We didn’t have many chances in the beginning of the first half, but Sosa has talent for these types of chances and he shot it very well. We got 3 points and we should now focus on the game against Gençlerbirligi. Because I don’t always play 90 minutes you lose your condition and physique, but I’m doing extra training. We deserved the win, we are happy.”

Oguzhan Ozyakup: “The team was very focused on the game, we wanted to play. The goalkeeper of the opponent probably had some difficulties with his sight during the warm-up. We didn’t want the game to be postponed. We knew it was important and I believe we have played well. Maybe we didn’t get any chances during the first 20 minutes of the second half, but we are very happy with the 3 points. We had possession for 40 minutes in the first half and had chances. We started the second half slowly and didn’t have any chances. We are showing that we are a very good team. The most important thing were the 3 points. Sometimes we don’t score despite getting many chances. Today the important thing were the 3 points.”

Ümit Özat: “I don’t really want to talk about football because of the events in Ankara. If it wasn’t for that free-kick goal there wouldn’t have been a goal even if we played for 190 minutes instead of 90. We closed the game well. A few players played for the first time in a long time. Getting 1 point here was important, a win would have been a bonus. The referee had a good game. Sosa scored a goal that shows his quality. I hope we can continue where we left off against Osmanlispor.”
