Matchday 27

The Black Eagles will close matchday 27 against one of the few teams that has been capable of keeping them from 3 points earlier in the season. Kasimpaşa held Beşiktaş to a 3-3 draw earlier this season, in fact the Black Eagles needed a penalty in extra time to even manage to get a point from that match.

Riza Calimbay-paa

Beşiktaş have only dropped a hand full of points this season, twice it has been against a former club legend. Riza Calimbay managed to keep the Black Eagles to a 3-3 draw last time his side met the Eagles.

With a surprising loss of points for main rivals Fenerbahçe on Sunday, Beşiktaş have the possibility to increase their lead on the current number two in the Spor Toto Süper Lig. However Beşiktaş will have to do so without several key players as Ricardo Quaresma is serving a one match yellow card suspension, while Gökhan Töre is still recovering from surgery. Atiba Hutchinson will travel with the team but the Canadian midfield stalwart has been sick for the past few days and wasn’t able to join the team in training on Sunday. Captain Tolga Zengin also remains an uncertainty, which could see Ukrainian international Denys Boyko get his second consecutive start in the Süper Lig after having made his debut against Antalyaspor.

Kasimpaşa had a strong first half of the season in which they gathered 30 points after 17 games, but 8 matches in to the second half of the season they’ve only been able to collect a measly 7 points. Nevertheless the Black Eagles can’t take Kasimpaşa’s poor run of form as if they’ve already bagged the 3 points. And with Quaresma not there to feed the ball from the wings the Eagles will have to look more than ever toward Oguzhan and Sosa to provide the creative spark.

With Mario Gómez getting his first goal for the German national team since June 2012, the Süper Lig topscorer will be more confident than ever, he needs to just two more to match Ilhan Mansiz’s 2001-2002 record and to possibly surpass yet another Beşiktaş legend in the history books.

Beşiktaş predicted XI:

Denys Boyko; Andreas Beck – Alexis Delgado (Necip Uysal) – Marcelo Guedes – İsmail Köybaşı; Tolgay Arslan – Oguzhan Özyakup – José Sosa; Olcay Şahan – Kerim Frei – Mario Gómez
