Beşiktaş squad has their first ever training at Vodafone Arena

Updated: April 9, 2016

After the club officially announced earlier today that the Vodafone Arena would indeed be inaugurated on Monday against Bursaspor as the stadium is now officially completed, the football squad had their first ever training session at the new Eagle’s nest today.

Beşiktaş head coach Şenol Güneş was joined by club president Fikret Orman as the team sat foot for the first time on the hybrid pitch of the Vodafone Arena. As the team has been training on hybrid grass already ever since the training facilities were modernized this past Summer, they needed no time to adjust to the new surface.first-training1

The Black Eagles are near complete, with only Luiz Rhodolfo lacking due to a long term injury. Gökhan Töre joined his teammates after being out several weeks with an injury and having surgery 3 week ago.

Beşiktaş take on Bursaspor on Monday at 20:00 local time (19:00 CET) in what will surely be a historic night in the club’s history regardless of the result. With more than 450.000 applications for tickets to the opening game it goes without saying that tickets for this crucial and historic match in the championship race have completely sold out, meaning a crowd of a little over 42.000 is expected to cheer the Black Eagles on in a home match for the first time at the club’s historic stadium location, formerly known as the Inönü stadium.

The Black Eagles will put pressure on rivals Fenerbahçe if they manage to end their first real home game in over two years as the victors. Filip Holosko was the last Beşiktaş player to ever score at the legendary Inönü stadium, who will be the first at the new Vodafone Arena?
