Matchday 32

As we’re edging closer and closer to the end of the season every game could have major title implications, today’s derby is no different and just as the previous matches is a crucial part of the title race. The Black Eagles are on the road against Galatasaray, who are currently in 6th place int he standings. Beşiktaş are at the top, 3 points clear of rivals Fenerbahçe who play Başakşehir tomorow evening.

This is a crucial game for both teams, a win for Beşiktaş could see them claim the title next week (depending on Fenerbahçe’s result tomorow) but a defeat for Galatasaray would mean no European qualification via the league, which they need to serve their one year FFP ban. Of course the hosts still have a shot to qualify for Europe through the Turkish cup final, but only a victory in the final (against Fenerbahçe) will suffice as the runner-up doesn’t get a European ticket regardless of the winner already being qualified through the league or not, Galatasaray could however the get the ticket as sixth placed team in the league, but Akhisar and Kasimpaşa are both hot on their tail.

Gomez-GS1

Mario Gómez scored once the first time these two sides met this season, can he add to his 24 goal total this Süper Lig campaign?

Beşiktaş have no suspension or injuries, bar Luiz Rhodolfo. Galatasaray have no suspension but will hav eto do without Semih Kaya and Aurélien Chedjou while Wesley Sneijder only just returned from injury.

The Black Eagles will need to get an historic first victory on the road at the Türk Telekom arena, as Beşiktaş have never managed to win away at Galatasaray since the opening of their new stadium at the start of the 2011-2012 season.

Earlier this season Beşiktaş beat Galatasaray at the Atatürk Olimpiyat stadium; 2-1, thanks to goals from Mario Gómez (pictured) and Gökhan Töre. Galatasaray’s goalkeeper Fernandao Muslera put in a stellar performance on that day, but could not prevent his team from losing the derby.

With 3 more matches to go in the 2015-2016 season, Beşiktaş can not afford to drop points now, a win will keep them firmly in the driver’s seat. Next week the Black Eagles take on Osmanlispor at the Vodafone Arena, Fenerbahçe play Gençlerbirligi at Sükrü Saraçoglu and both teams are on the road again on the final matchday; Beşiktaş travel to season revelation Konyaspor while Fenerbahçe travel to relegation side Sivasspor.

A win today would put a tremendous amount of pressure on Fenerbahçe to get a win tomorow away at Başakşehir, who are currently in fourth position in the standings, which is far from an easy task. If the Black Eagles manage to secure 3 points today and Fenerbahçe were to drop point tomorow then the game against Osmanlispor could be Beşiktaş’s championship match.

Beşiktaş predicted XI (4-2-3-1):

Tolga Zengin; Andreas Beck – Dusko Tosic – Marcelo Guedes – İsmail Köybaşı; Atiba Hutchinson – Oğuzhan Özyakup – José Sosa; Ricardo Quaresma – Olcay Şahan – Mario Gómez

Galatasaray predicted XI (4-5-1):

Fernando Muslera; Koray Günter – Hakan Balta – Jason Denayer – Leonel Carole; Sabri Sarioglu – Selçuk Inan – Ryan Donk – Wesley Sneijder (Emre) – Yasin Öztekin; Lukas Podolski
