Beşiktaş are looking to bolster their defence for the upcoming 2016-2017 season and are being strongly linked with Liverpool defender Martin Škrtel.

Škrtel’s agent Mithal Halis confirms the itnerest of the Black Eagles to thisisanfield.com: “He is considering a move to Turkey and is open to playing there. Fenerbahçe made an offer last season, Beşiktaş want him.”.

It’s no secret that Beşiktaş are looking for an experienced defender ahead of the return to the UEFA Champions League this upcoming season, with Martin Škrtel and Cristian Zapata (AC Milan) being at the top of their transfer list. Additionally Beşiktaş coach Şenol Güneş is still very keen on a move for Bursaspor defender Serdar Aziz, who he coached during the 2014-2015 season.

Trusted Beşiktaş journalist Firat Günayer reported yesterday that a deal for Škrtel is “very close” while Alexis Delgado may be on his way out again this Summer and the option to make Marcelo’s stay a more permanent one may also be used.
