We’ve been reporting for a while now that Gökhan Töre has his mind set on a move this Summer, as recent as yesterday in fact. And with Sky Sports’ reveal earlier today it seems like Töre’s move is within sight.

Sky Sports reports:

The 24 year old Turkish international, who has been included in Fatih Terim’s pre-selection for EURO 2016 in France this Summer, but will have to miss the first two matches of the group stages due to a red card he received in the Qualifiers against Iceland. Whether Fatih Terim will include him in his final selection remains unclear at this point.

Gökhan Töre has a solid relationship with West Ham coach Slaven Bilic, under whom he flourished the previous two seasons at Beşiktaş, but he found it more difficult to adjust to Şenol Güneş’ more collective minded style. Under Slaven Bilic Töre was by far the most important creative player on the team, but Şenol Güneş devided the responsibilities more among other players like Oguzhan, Quaresma and Sosa. Additionally Töre struggled with some nagging injuries during the season, diminishing his role in the team’s ultimate Championship victory.

Despite that however, Gökhan still had key roles in the team’s derby wins over both Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray at the Olimpiyat stadium during the first half of the season, his contribution in the second half of the season however was quite minimal, after being out for two months after having undergone surgery.

Both West Ham United and Atlético de Madrid had come knocking during the January transfer window but Beşiktaş presidnet refused to sell him at that stage of the season with the Black Eagles being in pole position to win the Süper Lig at that point (which they ended up doing in May).

While Şenol Güneş definitely treated Gökhan Töre as a key player, he undoubtedly felt his role as star of the team being diminished as other players stepped up under Güneş. In fact Beşiktaş have been preparing for Gökhan’s inevitable departure this Summer for some time, signing Armenian International Aras Özbiliz in January, only to immediatly loan him out to Rayo Vallecano to gain some match fitness.

With West Ham now pressing the matter, it seems that Gökhan will say goodbye to the Black Eagles with the Turkish title. Beşiktaş bought him permanently from Rubin Kazan in the Summer of 2014 for a €4,5 million fee and are now looking to more than triple their investment two seasons later.
