Beşiktaş players going to EURO 2016

Updated: May 31, 2016

Several Beşiktaş players have been included in the final selections for their respective countries for the upcoming EURO 2016 tournament in France.

Oğuzhan established himself as a starter for Turkey by scoring a crucial goal against his country of birth the Netherlands during the qualifiers.

For Turkey; Oğuzhan Özyakup, Olcay Şahan, Cenk Tosun and İsmail Köybaşı were all included in Fatih Terim’s 23 man squad. While Gökhan Töre, who still has a two match suspension to serve, did not make the final cut. Oğuzhan is expected to be a regular starter while Cenk will be competing for a starting place with Burak Yilmaz. Olcay and İsmail will almost certainly be used mainly as substitutes.

For Germany; Mario Gómez was included in Joachim Löw’s 23 man squad, the German national team coach was quoted saying “Mario Gomez is a player with a real killer instinct – he is dangerous in the area.”. Gómez is expected to be a starter for Germany.

For Portugal; Ricardo Quaresma has been included in Fernando Santos’ 23 man squad. Quaresma will likely make regular appearances as a substitute but is in the running for a place in the starting eleven.

And finally for the Ukraine; Denys Boyko was included in Mikhail formenko’s 23 man squad. Boyko is expected to start as the first reserve goalkeeper for Ukraine.
