Beşiktaş consider move for Badstuber

Beşiktaş are looking to strengthen their defence this summer and have so far been linked to Serdar Aziz, Nicolas N’Koulou, Kamil Glik and Martin Skrtel. The newest addition to the list is Holger Badstuber. According to bjk.org, the Black Eagles are interested in the services of the German central defender of Bayern Munich, who can also play as a left-back.

Badstuber broke his ankle 4 months ago and with the good performances of Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez and the presence of Mehdi Benatia and new transfer Mats Hummels, it looks like his chances on playing time are very slim. Another factor making a transfer very likely is the departure of head coach Pep Guardiola and the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian coach wants a new defender as Badstuber is not in his plans and he can therefore leave the club. His long term injury is also seen as a factor that decreased his value.

Badstuber, who went through Bayern’s youth academy and never played for another club in his career, wants to move to a club where he can show his talent and play in the Champions League. It is reported that he therefore is interested in a move to Beşiktaş, since Turkey’s champion will be participating in next season’s Champions League edition. Badstuber even asked for information from Beşiktaş striker and his friend Mario Gómez and got positive answers on his questions.

The 27 year old defender has 1 year remaining on his contract and only featured in 7 Bundesliga games this season.
