Turkish Football And The Dawn of a New Era
With all of the end of season excitement going on currently, the...
Spearheaded by Beşiktaş fan Eser Usanmaz (@EserUsanmaz) who lives in London, countless fellow Beşiktaş supporters have taken to using the hashtag “#BeşiktaşFansWantOspina” in order to get their message across to the club’s board.
Eser and countless other fans have been working vigorously to get his hashtag trending on social media on multiple occassions and has succeeded to do so several times.
Eser – who is a contributor to our website from time to time – said, “I know the chance of us getting Ospina are slim now that we agreed terms with Fabri, but if Boyko leaves I think there’s still a slim chance of it happening”.
The player himself even noticed and liked multiple tweets directed at him with said hashtag this past January when a deal was being negotiated, but Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger was unwilling to let the Colombian go mid-season.
Wenger however would be more willing to let Ospina go this Summer and has already called back Wojciech Sczesny from his AS Roma loan spell. However Beşiktaş presidnet Fikret Orman recently stated that the transfer of David Ospina is looking unlikely as Arsenal want “too much” for their reserve goalkeeper.
David Ospina has spent het past couple of weeks in the United States as he helped his nation Colombia to a third place finish in the Copa América, beating the hosts USA in the small final.
Arsenal are rumoured to want between three and four million Pounds for David Ospina, while Beşiktaş supposedly aren’t willing to go higher than two. The Black Eagles have been following Ospina’s career for over four years and the Beşiktaş have had him at the top of their wishlist just as long, but will it ever come to fruition? If it does, the efforts of fans like Eser will surely have played a key part. But for now, we advise you not to keep your hopes up.
