Beşiktaş defender Alexis Delgado, who was transferred in from La Liga side Getafe this past January, is on his way back to Spain with his destination being Deportivo Alavés according to reports.

Alexis joined Beşiktaş in January as a replacement for Ersan Gülüm who had departed for China, the Black Eagles paid a 1,1 million euro transfer fee.

The 31 year old central defender made 12 appearances for the Black Eagles and scored one goal, during the inauguration match of the new Vodafone Arena, but was never able to fully convince the staff of his longterm benefit to the squad. With Beşiktaş still looking to add a central defender to their ranks this window, Alexis was poised to move elsewhere. Deportivo Alavés are reportedly paying a 500.000 euro fee for Alexis.

Alavés achieved promotion from the Segunda Division this past season and will be in the Spanish top flight – La Liga – during the 2016/17 season.

As Alexis still had a two year running deal with Beşiktaş, he was set to still receive somewhere around 2,4 million in guaranteed wages, so while Beşiktaş are losing about 600.000 euros on their initial transfer fee, they are offloading a decent amount from their wage bill.
