Signing ceremony for Adriano Correia

Updated: August 9, 2016

A signing ceremony was held at the Vodafone Arena yesterday for Beşiktaş’ latest transfer Adriano Correia. Here is what the Brazilian left-back had to say:

“The fans gave me a warm welcome”

“I want to thank my president. He has made a lot of effort during the negotations. I believe I am at the right club at the right time. I’m very happy. I want to contribute to the team with my experiences from Europe. I am a team player. I played my first game yesterday and I want to thank the fans. They gave me a warm welcome.”

“I didn’t have an adaptation problem”

“I feel good. I didn’t have an adaptation problem. Of course on the pitch we have the language problem, but my translating friends help out with this. I came from a big team who was used to winning. We have players like this at Beşiktaş too. I want to adapt as good as possible on and off the pitch and live a happy life here.”

“We will continue to win trophies for Beşiktaş

“When someones becomes champions for the first time, he wants to experience this every time. I feel butterflies in my stomach like on the first day. From my childhood until now I wanted to win trophies and this will continue until the end of my career. We will continue to win trophies for Beşiktaş.”

“Arda played an important role”

“Arda Turan talked about the club in a good way since day one. He played an important role during the transfer. He is very talented himself. I wish him luck at Barcelona. I’m certain he will be succesful.”

President Fikret Orman also spoke about this transfer. He had the following to say:

“He suits the club’s principles”

“Adriano was a player we were interested in a lot. I am happy we bought an important player like him. You have met him, he suits the club’s principles very well. I want to thank our official Umut (Güner) as well, he made a lot of effort. Barcelona helped out because Adriano really wanted to come and he served them for many years.”
