Fikret Orman on Balotelli, Benteke, Gómez and more

Updated: August 9, 2016

After Adriano Correia’s signing ceremony at Vodafone Arena yesterday, Fikret Orman talked some more about some very interesting topics. Here is what the Beşiktaş president had to say about transfers, Gómez and Oğuzhan:

“We are going to buy a central defender and a striker”

“Of course the head coach of a team wants his new players as soon as possible, but we have a guide line. We are not going to act spoilt and make expensive transfers just because we play in the Champions League. Because of Rhodolfo’s adaptation period and the departure of Gómez we are going to buy a central defender and a striker. There are still 22 days until the end of the transfer window. We have a Super Cup game this week but even if the transfers happened today they couldn’t play in that game. We have the national team’s striker and you have seen Ömer’s performance.”

“If Gómez wants to return we can talk with him”

“We don’t have anything to talk about with Gómez, the reports about a meeting are lies. Gómez didn’t want to come because of the political situation in Turkey. If Gómez wants to come to Beşiktaş we will try to convince him, but I didn’t speak with him or send him a message. If the country is safe for the players here it can’t be unsafe for Gómez. Quaresma said “I want to return home”. If Gómez does this we can talk with him. A lot of players came and went. Better ones will come.”

“We want to see Benteke in the team”

“Balotelli is a star player, but he has problems. That is the image he has. If we are convinced by a player we will talk with our coach. Balotelli is not a player to talk about. We first talk to each other in our own principles and then consult our coach. We want to see Benteke in the team. He was transfered to Liverpool for a very big transfer fee. It doesn’t seem like an easy transfer. We have other players we are interested in too. We will make 2 or 3 transfers.”

“We don’t have the intention to sell Oğuzhan

Oğuzhan has been playing for Beşiktaş for 4 years now. I love him a lot. He was like a kid when he first came and now he is one of the team’s leaders. I want him to end his career here. If a player wants to move abroad, there is a way to do this. Oğuzhan is happy to be here. We want to let an experienced Oğuzhan see in the Champions League this year. We don’t have the intention to sell him now.”
