Turkish Football And The Dawn of a New Era
With all of the end of season excitement going on currently, the...
Caner Erkin joined Internazionale after his contract with Fenerbahçe had expired this past May. Where he was high on the wishlist of former Galatasaray boss Roberto Mancini. However after the Mancini was shown the door by Inter, Dutch coach Frank De Boer showed less interest in working with Caner and subsequently showed him the door aswell. Caner didn’t make a single official appearance for the Nerazzurri and joined Turkish Champions Beşiktaş on a season long loan with option to buy.
Ever since his arrival at Vodafone Arena Caner has quickly become a fan favourite of the Black Eagles’ fans, establishing himself as a key player to Senol Güneş’ side in no time at all. With Inter Milan making it public knowledge that they’ll be offloading all their surplus players during the next few transfer windows there seems to be no chance of a return for Caner and a permanent transfer to Beşiktaş is looming.
The Black Eagles already have an option to buy Caner for a modest fee of 1 million euros and the Beşiktaş board are keen on making the deal permanent sooner rather than later. With recent developments Caner’s deal with Beşiktaş could be made permanent as early as the January transfer window.
Inter’s largest shareholder, the Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, told the Italian media that the club will go into a big restoration in January. Thohir stated that they will let go of players who are not considered in the squad moving forward and it will be difficult for players who are out on loan to return. Italian media stated that Caner Erkin’s return is almost impossible and that Beşiktaş will get him permanently in January.
