Following Deportivo La Coruña’s 3-1 victory over Real Betis in the Copa del Rey yesterday, Beşiktaş transfer target Ryan Babel declared to the Spanish newspaper Marca that he will be departing the Galician club.

Babel has only been with Deportivo for six months after he had his contract with the Dubai club Al Ain terminated. He joined Deportivo during September on a 6-month contract and has since featured in 12 official games for the club in which he scored 5 goals and provided one assist. The 3-1 Copa del Rey victory over Real Betis was his last match for Deportivo, so he tells Marca.

“I’m going to sit down with my agent now. Due to family circumstances I have decided not to extend with Deportivo and accept an offer from another club” Babel told Marca after the match. The 42 time Dutch international did not want to say for which club he had opted to sign yet but he did confirm that Beşiktaş was among those interested, “but there are also offers from two other clubs”.

Babel is grateful for the opportunity that Deportivo have given him at the start of the season. “when I arrived here I wasn’t in shape, but the trainer helped me fantastically. The first month was extremely tough. If the club would ever want me back, I’d certainly be up for that.”
